On May 16, 2018, Cities of Service celebrated the winners of the inaugural Engaged Cities Award at a dinner hosted by Michael R. Bloomberg. We were honored to recognize the creative ways cities are collaborating with their citizens to meet pressing local challenges. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the event a success.

Mayor Virginio Merola accepted the award for Bologna, Italy. Bologna changed its policies to allow collaboration between the city and citizens to transform urban spaces.
Michael R. Bloomberg presented the award to Mayor Maurice Armitage, of Santiago de Cali, Colombia. Cali empowered citizen councils to create programs that reduced neighborhood violence.
Mayor G.T. Bynum accepted the award for Tulsa's Urban Data Pioneers program, which brought citizens and city staff together to analyze data and solve problems.
